Middle East Navigation Aids Service (MENAS) has underscored its commitment to the environment and renewable energy by officially unveiling its new solar power project that will save up to 90% of the company’s electrical energy consumption.
In a project lasting several months, the Photovoltaic (PV) Solar System was installed on the MENAS building’s roof and car park in Bahrain and is equipped with a remote monitoring system to monitor the energy and performance. The power generated will be used by the MENAS buildings and any surplus will be fed to the grid.
In a speech delivered during the opening ceremony on 6th February, Catherine Mulvihill, CEO of MENAS’ parent organisation, the International Foundation for Aids to Navigation (IFAN), which funded the project, extended her deep thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, Mr Yasser bin Ebrahim Humaidan, for his prominent role in supporting sustainable economic growth and encouraging the trend to adopt renewable energy projects in partnership with the private sector. His Excellency was joined at the ceremony by a group of directors and officials from the Ministry of Electricity and Water Affairs.
Ms Mulvihill also welcomed His Excellency the Undersecretary for Ports and Maritime Affairs at Ministry of Transportation, Mr Badr Hood Al-Mahmood, who also attended the ceremony with a group of Port and Maritime Affairs officials.
Mahdi Al-Mosawi, General Manager of MENAS, stated during the ceremony that the production capacity of the solar panels on the company’s buildings and parking lots reaches 278 kilowatts, indicating that the project is one of the company’s most important investments in renewable energy.
The opening ceremony concluded with the presentation of a souvenir gift by Guy Mason, Chairman of IFAN to His Excellency Mr Yasser bin Ebrahim Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, and to the Green Innova company, which installed the solar panels.

استمر المشروع عدة أشهر، وقد تم تركيب النظام الشمسي الكهروضوئي على أسطح مباني شركة ميناس ومواقف السيارات في البحرين، وهو مجهز بنظام مراقبة عن بعد لمراقبة الطاقة والأداء. حيث سيتم استخدام الطاقة المولدة لتغطية استهلاك الشركة من الطاقة وتغذية أي فائض إلى الشبكة الرئيسية لمملكة البحرين ليتم الاستفادة من لاحقا .
وفي كلمة ألقتها خلال حفل الافتتاح في 6 فبراير، أعربت كاثرين مولفيهيل، الرئيس التنفيذي للمنظمة الأم ل، المؤسسة الدولية للمساعدات الملاحية (آيفان) التي مولت المشروع، عن عميق شكرها وتقديرها لسعادة وزير شئون الكهرباء والماء السيد ياسر بن إبراهيم حميدان لدوره البارز في دعم النمو الاقتصادي المستدام وتشجيع الاتجاه لتبني مشاريع الطاقة المتجددة بالشراكة مع القطاع الخاص. وانضم إلى سعادته في الحفل نخبة من المدراء والمسؤولين بوزارة شؤون الكهرباء والماء.
كما رحبت السيدة مولفيهيل بسعادة وكيل وزارة المواصلات لشؤون الموانئ والملاحة البحرية السيد بدر هود المحمود الذي حضر الحفل مع مجموعة من مسؤولي شؤون الموانئ والملاحة البحرية.
وأوضح السيد مهدي الموسوي مدير عام شركة ميناس خلال الحفل أن الطاقة الإنتاجية للألواح الشمسية في مباني الشركة ومواقف السيارات تصل إلى 278 كيلووات، مشيراً إلى أن المشروع يعد من أهم استثمارات الشركة في مجال الطاقة المتجددة.
واختتم حفل الافتتاح بتقديم هدية تذكارية من غاي ماسون، رئيس مجلس إدارة (آيفان/ميناس) إلى سعادة السيد ياسر بن إبراهيم حميدان، وزير شؤون الكهرباء والماء، وإلى شركة (جرين إينوفا) التي قامت بتنفيذ المشروع.
